La madre del dottor Tofu sta per giungere in città in visita al figlio, e non vede l'ora di conoscere le pretendenti alla sua mano; Akane si offre di finger di recitar quella parte, e anche Nabiki, dietro pagamento, si offre di far la stessa cosa. Il dottor Tofu accetta a malincuore lo sceneggiato: infine anche Ranma in versione femminile è costretto da Ryoga ad unirsi al concorso messo in piedi dalla vecchia signora per scoprire la ragazza "coi fianchi più larghi" degna di sposare il figliolo.
