《金刚》大卖后，同年就毫不意外地出现了这部跟风之作，而且还是出自《金刚》导演之一的斯考德萨卡之手。故事延续《金刚》的内容，片中的导演卡尔死里逃生后继续过着罪恶般的生活，回到骷髅岛之后，再次潜入金刚的巢穴，等待他的是比金刚小一号的猩猩，这个金刚的儿子则被卡尔的香蕉所迷惑……
