Solange wants her stuff back. She moved out of town five years ago and now returns to retrieve her belongings, which she left in boxes at friends' homes.

André, a teenager, lives in an industrial town in Brazil near an old aluminum factory. One day, a factory worker, Cristiano, suffers an accident. Asked to go to Cristiano’s house to pick up clothes and documents, André stumbles on a notebook, and it’s here that Araby begins — or, rather, transforms. As André reads from the journal entries, we are plunged into Cristiano’s life, into stories of his wanderings, adventures, and loves.

Creating a national park in the Brazilian state of Piauí dedicated to the preservation of what are apparently the first traces of human activity in the Americas has been archeologist Niède Guidon’s life work. SERTÃO, AMÉRICA is a contemporary take on a mythical territory of Brazilian cinema, once the cinematic realm of Glauber Rocha and other giants. The film pays a brief visit to the region, which is rendered in appropriately fragile analogue textures and deteriorated colours, as small fragments of the biographies of those who used to live there hover over the animal noises of the delicately crafted soundscape.

1983 — A young biologist returns home from studies abroad and feels something wrong with his body. This is the start of the AIDS crisis when the first wave of the epidemic hit Brazil. Lives will change, friends will be lost and the future is uncertain.

One day, Lauro runs into Theo, a friend he hasn't seen in years. Both have already been in love with the same girl, Clara, who no longer lives in the city. It doesn't take long for the two to start remembering them as stories from the past, while taking a long walk through the streets of Vitória.

In Fortaleza, Brazil, Eugenio, Joaquim and João use a clandestine radio to scream their hunger for freedom and revolution. They hack the traditional radio stations, overwhelming them with poetry, rebel music, quotes, sound archives and provocations, attacking the bourgeois and capitalistic society. But one day, Salomé, a mysterious and beautiful listener, crashes into their lives, transforming their destiny.
