Saito Masao reminisces on the days of his youth more than 50 years ago and his forbidden love of his older cousin Tamiko. When he was 15, Tamiko moved in to take care of his sickly mother. The two quickly fell in love with each other but were inevitably forced by their family to live separate lives.

A coming-of-age film in which Junko Sakurada, who was immensely popular as a girl star, plays the leading role in a movie for the first time. Based on Keiko Ochiai's book of the same title, the film tells the story of a 17-year-old girl's first love and growth who yearns for an older teacher.

Sidhu and Alasi grow up together harbouring feelings for each other. Sidhu sacrifices his career to help Alasi become an officer. Her mother wishes to get Alasi married to an educated and employed boy. Can Sidhu win over the family?
