While on a "slumming" excursion, debutante Bobbie Walsh (Viola Dana) falls in love with tenement-district doctor Thornton (Allan Simpson). Not wishing to scare the doctor off, Bobbie doesn't tell him that she's the wealthy daughter of a prominent senator. But when Dr. Thornton ends up in night court after punching out a pair of would-be mashers, Bobbie is forced to reveal her true identity. Bob Stafford, the wastrel son of a wealthy businessman, is disowned by his father for his reckless and irresponsible ways. He changes his name and opens a gym for wealthy young girls, hoping to land a rich and pretty wife. He meets and falls for pretty young Eileen, but a rival soon drives him out of the gym business. He gets a job in an airplane factory owned by Eileen's father, who is soon told by a rival that Bob is really out to steal a new airplane invention so he can give it to his father.

Richard Gordon is an aspiring composer who can't get arrested in his field of endeavor. Upon meeting nightclub singer Mary Talbot, Gordon is inspired to write his greatest melody. The song catches the ear of impresario George Monroe and before long Gordon has scaled the heights of fame and fortune. Mary despairs that she's been forgotten.
