Tillsammans med sin partner Hap skickas den ärrade Los Angeles-polisen Will Dormer till en liten fiskeby i Alaska för att lösa ett bestialiskt flickmord. Jagade av internutredare hemma i L.A. hoppas de båda poliserna att Alaska-vistelsen ska ge dem några dagars välbehövligt andrum. Men uppdraget visar sig bli allt annat än lugnt.
