An investigative reporter travels to a small European country with the hope of exposing its dictator's family secrets.

Squarciò, a fisherman, lives with his family on a small island off the Dalmatian coast of Italy. Like his fellow villagers, Squarciò struggles against harsh living conditions, a scarcity of fish in nearby waters and exploitation by the local wholesaler. But while the other fishermen continue to use nets, he goes out to the open sea to fish illegally with bombs. But Squarciò borrows money, loses his boat, and in a moment of supreme desperation, has to bomb directly off-shore, causing the hatred and rejection of his fellow fishermen. Trying to save his family, Squarciò and his young sons sail their new boat out beyond the local waters and bomb-fish again. But this time, the sea exacts a terrible toll…

When the planes bombed a Slovene town, a Slovene boy and a German girl set on a journey towards the valley, in which there is no war. On their way a black American pilot, who jumped of a shoot-down plane, joins them. Although American planes have killed the boy's parents, he accepts the pilot with enthusiasm. The children communicate with him in German and the valley of peace seems like the last paradise place of refuge. The Slovene boy, the German girl, and the American pilot represent a symbolic triangle of peace in this adventure happening in the middle of the War of Liberation.

The German police cannot solve the mystery of the seven murders which have alarmed the local villagers. Nanj gre Sandi, ki na zmenku poskuša pridobiti Vesno zase. Zareče se mu in uide mu resnica, da so za Vesno žrebali. Zaradi tega se hoče Vesna ubiti. Skoči s padalom v upanju, da se ne bo odprlo. Vse se lepo izide, padalo se odpre.
