Podganček Remy je velik gurman, zato že od nekdaj sanja, da bi postal svetovno priznan kuhar. Splet okoliščin ga nekega dne zares pripelje do prestižne restavracije v Parizu, kjer spozna mladeniča Linguinija. Ta je zadolžen le za pomivanje posod, a s pomočjo Remyjevih kulinaričnih mojstrovin kmalu postane mojster kuhanja, kar pa gre v nos zlobnemu šefu.
