Toda ko gre po zlu neuradni genetski poskus, se ta nežna opica nenadoma prelevi v gromozansko besnečo zver. In - kar je še huje - kmalu postane jasno, da so podobno preobražene tudi nekatere druge živali. Ti na novo ustvarjeni alfa plenilci sejejo grozo po Severni Ameriki in uničujejo vse, kar se jim znajde na poti. Okoye poišče pomoč genetskega inženirja, ki se je znašel na slabem glasu, da najdeta cepivo, pri tem pa se prebija skozi bojišče, na katerem je vsak hip drugačno stanje; ustaviti mora ne le katastrofo globalnih razsežnosti, temveč tudi rešiti bitje, ki je bil nekoč njegov prijatelj.

Asteroid ogrozi naš planet in velesile ga uničijo z jedrskimi raketami. Ko pa se jedrski delci vrnejo na zemljino površje, to povzroči mutacijo žužkov in iz njih naredi morilske stvore. Ljudje, ki so preživeli, se skrivajo, kjer se pač lahko, največkrat je to prav v bunkerjih pod zemljo, kjer spoznamo tudi našega junaka Joela. Sedem let je že minilo od prvih dni apokalipse in v koloniji pod zemljo je našel dom, kamor pa ne spada. Da bi spet našel svoje dekle, se odloči, da bo zapustil kolonijo.

Four turtles fall into the sewers and are befriended by Hamato Yoshi a Japanese man sent to New York who was forced to live in the sewers. One day he sees a strange green glow which transforms the four turtles into human-like creatures. Hamato (now Master Splinter) changes into a giant rat from the green glow and teaches the turtles the skills of the ninja as they team up with news reporter April O'Neil to battle against Yoshi's arch enemy Shredder and Krang, an alien warlord from Dimension X.

Led by Master Splinter, the four turtles learn the ancient martial art of Ninjitsu, mastering skills of stealth, weapons, and fighting. They stop evildoers in all forms, whether barbaric gangs, lowlife crooks, deranged cyborgs, or even the crime syndicate The Foot, led by their archrival, The Shredder.

The Turtles — Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey — each will go it alone for the first time. Faced with new threats and teaming up with old allies, the Turtles will discover who they really are when they don’t have their brothers at their sides.
