În 1990, Jack Kevorkian realiza prima sa moarte asistată. El e una dintre cele mai polarizante figuri ale istoriei moderne americane: un medic ce credea cu înflăcărare că oamenii trebuie să aibă și dreptul să moară. Astfel, el a realizat o mașinărie pentru a-i permite lui Janet Adkins, care suferea de Alzheimer, să-și administreze singură doza letală.
