Trebuia să fie doar un simplu furt pe care Edgin (Chris Pine), războinica Holga (Michelle Rodriguez), magicianul Simon (Justice Smith) și falsificatorul Forge (Hugh Grant) îl fac pentru angajatorul lor dezgustător (Daisy Head). Dar în timpul aventurii, Edgin și Holga sunt capturați și ajung în închisoare în Icewind Valley timp de doi ani. După ce au evadat, cei doi descoperă că Forge a ajuns să conducă orașul Neverwinter și a insuflat minciuni despre fiica lui Edgin, Kira (Chloe Coleman), despre tatăl ei. The story is set in an ancient time, when the whole country was covered in thick forests. A mysterious plague breaks out, resulting in countless deaths. A pure young man named Yoshihiko becomes chosen as a hero, and he sets out on a journey in order to save a village. He has two goals – to bring back the legendary plant that can cure the plague, and to rescue his father Teruhiko who left to find the plant but never returned.

GOLD is a comedy soap opera, a satire of sports movies and television shows, and a loving tribute to the geekily wonderful world of tabletop role playing games.
