TV er mektigere en noensinne og mest populært er programmet THE RUNNING MAN. En makaber katt og mus-lek der uskyldige innbyggere utpekes som forbrytere og jages av spesialtrente commandostyrker. Men denne gangen møter de livsfarlig motstand...

En komedie med mange innfall om George som driver en tv-stasjon, en oppgave som detter på ham fordi hans onkel tilfeldigvis vinner en kjempegevinst i poker. George lykkes i å få seernes oppmerksomhet blant annet ved at han lar stasjonens dørvakt lede et barneshow, noe som gir et ganske underlig resultat. Og oppe i denne skrullete historien finnes rare sidehistorier der hovedpersonen parodierer, kjente figurer fra Steven Spielbergs filmer, fra "Ghandi" og fra musikkvideoer.

Den gjennomført ukarismatiske Herbie Stempel begynner som konkurransens helt. Han var nøye plukket ut av produsentene, de regnet med at folk ville elske en uskjønn nerd med dårlige tenner og masse unødvendig, fragmentert kunnskap. Men fjernsynet må som kjent stadig komme opp med noe nytt for å holde grepet på sine seere. Den dagen Stempel blir bedt om å svare feil og ser seg selv erstattet av den vellykkede og vakre Charles Van Doren, sønn og nevø av to Pulitzer-prisvinnere, raser verden sammen. Waku waku is the Dutch version of a Japanese game-show format (hence the name, unintelligible in Dutch or other Western languages) in which a small panel of celebrities is shown a number of short film sequences in which (usually wild or zoo) animals are shown in unusual (often artificially created) situations. Tony Barber hosted a game show with essentially the same format under the title Temptation from 1970 to 1976, and was also the initial host of Sale for over a decade before being replaced by Glenn Ridge in 1991. Hostesses over the years have included Victoria Nicholls, Delvene Delaney, Alyce Platt, Jo Bailey, Nicky Buckley and Karina Brown. Pete Smith was Sale's announcer for the majority of its run. Ron Neate was announcer for only the first ten episodes in 1980 before Smith took over. From 30 May 2005 – 23 January 2009, the series was revived under its original Australian title, Temptation. The Sale of the Century format has been used internationally.
