Walt Disney Productions heeft sinds 1954 een anthologie televisieserie geproduceerd onder verschillende titels. De originele versie van de serie ging in première op ABC, woensdagavond 27 oktober 1954. Dezelfde basisshow is sindsdien op verschillende netwerken verschenen, waarbij de laatste revival debuteerde. in 2012 op Disney Junior. De show is het op een na langst vertoonde primetime-programma op de Amerikaanse televisie, na zijn rivaal, Hallmark Hall of Fame. Hallmark Hall of Fame was echter alleen tijdens de eerste vijf seizoenen een wekelijks programma, terwijl Disney meer dan veertig jaar een wekelijks programma bleef.
