Pinocchio is een opkomende Amerikaanse live-action computer-geanimeerde muzikale fantasiefilm geregisseerd door Robert Zemeckis naar een scenario van Zemeckis en Chris Weitz. De film, geproduceerd door Walt Disney Pictures, is een remake van de gelijknamige film uit 1940, die zelf is gebaseerd op het Italiaanse boek The Adventures of Pinocchio uit 1883 van Carlo Collodi. Geppetto maakt een houten pop en noemt hem Pinocchio. Zijn wens dat Pinocchio een echt jongetje zal zijn wordt door een fee waarheid gemaakt. Ze wijst de krekel Jiminy aan om als Pinocchio's geweten op te treden en hem uit de problemen te houden.
Net nadat de Muppets zijn afgestudeerd van de toneelschool reizen ze af naar New York om hun succesvolle musical 'Manhattan Melodies' voort te zetten op Broadway. Dat blijkt een stuk lastiger dan gedacht, dus wanneer ze na enkele maanden nog niets hebben bereikt, gaat iedereen zijn eigen weg en valt het gezelschap uit elkaar. Kermit blijft echter achter om de droom na te jagen.

Vanaf dat moment loopt Walter 24 uur per dag met de bever-pop aan zijn hand, om vervolgens alleen maar via de pop te communiceren en deze als een levend wezen te behandelen. Walter gaat terug naar huis en alles lijkt verrassend genoeg weer beter te gaan tussen hem, zijn vrouw en de kinderen. Totdat de bever complete controle over het leven van Walter lijkt te krijgen...
