Sonic is een super snelle antropomorfe blauwe egel. De overheid is erop gebrand om Sonic te pakken te krijgen. Sheriff Tom Wachowski, een sheriff uit het klein stadje Green Hills, besluit om af te reizen naar San Francisco om Sonic te helpen in zijn strijd tegen de kwaadaardige Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Ralphs enige hoop is 'Vanellope von Schweetz', een kleine 'fout' in het spel dat het misschien voor elkaar kan krijgen om van Ralph een goede jongen te maken.
