Captain Walker is vermist geraakt in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Kort hierna baart zijn vrouw, Nora, zijn zoon Tommy. Wanneer Tommy een jaar of tien is hertrouwt zijn moeder met Frank Hobbs. Als Nora en Frank op het punt staan hun liefde te consumeren stopt Walker hen, waarna hij vermoord wordt door Frank.
Timmy Lea en zijn zwager Sidney Noggett werken als entertainmentofficieren in Funfrall, een typisch Brits vakantiekamp. Het personeel is lui en inefficiënt en luiert liever bij het zwembad dan dat er activiteiten voor de vakantie kampeerders worden georganiseerd. Een nieuwe eigenaar, de heer Whitemonk, een ex-gevangenisofficier, neemt het kamp over en is vastbesloten om discipline in het personeel te brengen. Hij staat op het punt Timmy en Sidney te ontslaan; Sidney's suggestie om een schoonheidswedstrijd te organiseren, verandert echter van gedachten.
Hi-de-Hi! is a British sitcom set in Maplins, a fictional holiday camp, during 1959 and 1960, and was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, who also wrote Dad's Army and It Ain't Half Hot Mum amongst others. It aired on the BBC from 1980 to 1988. The series revolved around the lives of the camp's management and entertainers, most of them struggling actors or has-beens. The inspiration was the experience of writers Perry and Croft: after being demobilised from the army, Perry was a Redcoat at Butlin's, Pwllheli during the holiday season. The series gained large audiences and won a BAFTA as Best Comedy Series in 1984. In 2004, it came 40th in Britain's Best Sitcom and in a 2008 poll on Channel 4, 'Hi-de-Hi!" was voted the 35th most popular comedy catchphrase.
Les Galapiats is a French-Belgian-Swiss-Canadian television series, composed of eight episodes lasting 26 minutes each, directed by Pierre Gaspard-Huit broadcast in 1970 on the second channel of the ORTF and December 1969 in the RTB, Belgium.
