A musical drama about two pupils from a provincial music conservatory who elope, marry, and move to London to try their luck. The husband becomes a singer in a nightclub, and is soon targeted by a predatory socialite. They start an affair, the wife finds out about it and decides to leave her husband, until matters are smoothed over by a third-party who wishes the couple well.
A convicted killer escapes and seeks revenge on the jurors who put him in prison. He kills two of them and the rest end up hiding in the large home of another juror, an actor. It is the actor who saves them from the murderous fugitive.
1840 - Max Miller and a troupe of artistes come to perform at a tavern, which is not licensed for such performances. A rival tavern informs the police and they have to pay a heavy fine. However, they find the money by rescuing a boy and getting the reward.
