Bela (akt. Emma Watson) – miela ir kilniaširdė mergina, kuriai brangiausias pasaulyje yra jos tėtis. Šiam pakliuvus į bėdą, mergina nė nesusimąsčiusi ryžtasi pasiaukoti ir tapti Pabaisos (akt. Dan Stevens) įkaite prabangiuose jo rūmuose. Nepaisant iš pradžių tarp jų tvyrojusio nepasitikėjimo ir baimės, Bela pamažu pradeda pažinti tikrąjį Pabaisos grožį – po siaubinga išore slypinčią didžiulę ir mylinčią jo širdį. Gyvulys – Pabaisa yra princas, kuris buvo užkerėtas. Netikėtai pasiklydęs Maurices Gražuolės tėvas paklius pas jį, taip bus nulemta Gražuolei ir Pabaisai susitikti…

Tris metus (1764 - 1767 m.) visą Prancūziją drebino mistinis monstras, nužudęs daugiau nei 100-ą žmonių (dauguma iš jų moterys ir vaikai). Kijuta anksti tapo našlaičiu ir neteko stogo virš galvos, o su globėjais gyventi nenori. Tad jis pabėga ir ima klajoti gatvėmis. Klajodamas Kijuta sutinka vilkolakį meškiną Kumatetsą. Iš gailesčio vilkolakis nusprendžia priimti vargšą našlaitį į savo pasaulį. Jame gyvena būtybės, panašios į žmones, bet išvaizda labai besiskiriančios nuo Kijutos. Berniukas sutinka daug neįprastų naujojo pasaulio gyventojų, su kai kuriais susidraugauja. Pamažu berniukas nebesijaučia vienišas. Tarp lokio ir berniuko užsimezga stipri draugystė. Kijuta taip pat pradeda mokytis vietinių kovos menų, kurie padės jiems patiriant nuotykių.

Beauty and the Beast is an American drama series which first aired on CBS in 1987. Creator Ron Koslow's updated version of the fairy tale has a double focus: the relationship between Vincent, a mythic, noble man-beast, and Catherine, a savvy Assistant District Attorney in New York; and a secret Utopian community of social outcasts living in a subterranean sanctuary. Through an empathetic bond, Vincent senses Catherine's emotions, and becomes her guardian.
