수영 전문가 다이애나 나이애드가 60세를 맞아 불가능에 가까운 평생의 꿈을 이루기 위해 도전에 나선다. 바로 쿠바에서 플로리다까지 100마일이 넘는 거친 바다를 종단하는 것.

두 친구, Don과 Dave는 보에스만스갓 동굴에서 283미터까지 잠수하고 있었다. 수면 가까이 올라오기 직전, 세계 기록을 막 갱신한 Dave가 시신 하나를 발견한다. 그들은 다시 잠수해 그 시신을 수습하기로 결정한다.
