When Richard Cameron, a secret service agent tracking down international spies, is kidnapped by the enemy, Mirian Somerset, to whom Richard has been surreptitiously married, believes that he is dead.
Susie organizes plays to benefit the Red Cross. She marries her hero, Robert, but finds out he did it to avoid the draft. She begs to be taken in his place and is soon captured by the enemy. Will Robert become the hero she believed he was?
PopSki plots to capture Squeak and manages to trap her with a fish on a string. He chains her in a cellar in the slums of London and she dreams of younger days on Penguin Island.
‘Wilfred's Nightmare’: Pip, Squeak and Wilfred take a piece of floating ice to reach the boat, and Wilfred falls asleep. He dreams of floating up to the moon, where he has trouble with moon creatures, before waking. ‘Home Again’: The trio have been picked up by an ocean liner, and telegram Uncle Dick. They get off at Marseilles and take a train, jumping out in Paris. They cross the channel and walk to London, and are then reunited with Uncle Dick.
The coastguard finds an egg, and Wilfred takes an interest in it. An ostrich hatches out, and grows rapidly. "WILFRED'S DREAM" - Wilfred falls asleep on the beach, and dreams of carrots and Cupid. He falls in love with a fairy, and they fly on a magic carpet to an enchanted castle, where there are strange creatures. They are to be married. The BFI have added the following note: “this may be two incomplete episodes edited together.”
Halfway up Mount Everest, Pip and Squeak wait for Wilfred, who has already reached the top. He slides down. They then steal a cart and an engine, before going by elephant to Calcutta, where they catch a steamship again.
Pip, Squeak and Wilfred are in the desert with no water or food. They find an oasis with dates and a well, and are then rescued by plane. They land in Africa, where two men have dug a mine and found a diamond. A tornado blows them into the mine, where Squeak eats the diamond, but they are then captured. As they’re about to be eaten, an airship approaches…
“After falling overboard they spent days in the life-buoy. Their only food was butter; and you soon get tired of only butter." A fish spots Pip, Squeak and Wilfred adrift, and tells his mermaid wife to make a soup from them; she pushes them ashore instead. Landing in Egypt, they take a camel ride to see pyramids and a sphinx, before finding themselves stranded in the desert. There, they find a giant egg and try to cook it, but a crocodile hatches out and chases them away…
Pip, Squeak and Wilfred find a treasure map, which leads them to a chest of Spanish gold which they recover. Back at their lodging house, they get into trouble with the landlady, who sends a letter to Uncle Dick, who summons them home. They take a steam ship, but find themselves stranded at sea.
On the beach, Pip, Squeak and Wilfred have their photo taken. Afterwards they climb a clifftop but drop their lunch over the top. Wilfred goes to rescue it, but is dropped into the sea by a seagull before being rescued. The trio decide to build a car to return to London. After it breaks down, they tie the remainder to a horse and continue the journey.
Wilfred gets a longing to explore the great big world and sneaks out of bed whilst the others are asleep. He is captured by a mole and made to do all the housework. He escapes. Back at the house Pip and Squeak are missing him and call Mr Picklock Holes the great detective.
Squeak is still missing. Pip looks for her at London Zoo, Wilfred at the British Museum. Popski has Squeak in chains and will blow her up if she does not join the anarchists. Pip saves Squeak and Popski himself is blown up.
Pip, Squeak and Wilfred are introduced, and begin a game of hide and seek with many things being broken. Popski the Bolshivist dog is introduced through a letter threatening Squeak.
Pip, a dog, and Squeak, a penguin, are the parents of Wilfred, a rabbit.
