フランスの片田舎。ネズミのレミーは天才的な嗅覚と味覚を持ち、いつの日かシェフになることを夢見ていた。もちろん、それが叶わぬ夢と知りつつ。人間のキッチンにとって、ネズミは最も嫌われる存在だからだ。しかしある日、古巣を追われた家族と逃亡の途中ではぐれてしまったレミーの前に、彼が最も尊敬する亡き天才シェフ、グストーのゴーストが現れる。グストーはレミーを、パリにある自分が経営していたレストランにまで導いた。
