７歳程度の知能しかない中年男性サムはスターバックスで働き、ホームレス女性が出産した自分の娘、ルーシー・ダイアモンドと幸せに暮らしていた。しかし、ソーシャル・ワーカーに７歳になったルーシーは彼の知能を超えてしまい父親として養育能力がないと判断され、施設で保護されることになる。失望した彼は法廷で闘う決意を固め、エリート弁護士のリタに依頼したがとても不利な裁判だった。

弁護士のルーシー・ケルソンはとても正義感の強い女性で、社会奉仕活動にも積極的に参加していた。彼女は地元ニューヨークの歴史ある公民館の取り壊しに反対するため、取り壊しを強行しようとしている最大手の不動産企業ウェイド社のCEOであるジョージ・ウェイドに直談判を試みる。一方ジョージは、優秀な弁護士を捜している最中だったこともあり、ルーシーの度胸を気に入り、彼女に公民館取り壊しを白紙にすることを条件に自分の下で働くよう提案する。こうして出会った二人だが、性格や価値観の違いから衝突を繰り返していく。だが、次第にその関係に変化が起こる。

In Justice is an American television police procedural created by Michelle King and Robert King. The series began airing on Sunday, January 1, 2006 on ABC as a midseason replacement and assumed its regular night and time on Friday, January 6, 2006 at 9 p.m. EST. It was cancelled after its 13-episode run on March 31, 2006. The series was simulcast in Canada on CTV. In the UK In Justice was shown on UKTV Gold beginning September 17, 2006 and was later repeated on ABC1 in 2007.

Twenty years ago, Dashan and Yoyo, who was the girlfriend of his brother Dajiang, had smoked dope on the verandah. Dajiang was so angry that he beat Yoyo up. She fell off the building, and the scene was witnessed by an ugly girl named Xiaoxian. Dashan is now a maverick lawyer who does lots of pro bono work. He is attached to the firm of his mentor, Chen Guo. Old Bao, a private investigator, and Alvin, a ruffian, often help him with his cases. His girlfriend, Sun Kaili, works in the same law firm as he does.
