Alla fine degli anni Sessanta a Cinisi, un piccolo paese siciliano, la mafia domina e controlla la vita quotidiana oltre agli appalti per l'aeroporto di Punta Raisi e il traffico della droga. Il giovane Peppino Impastato entra nel vortice della contestazione piegandola, con originalità, alle esigenze locali. Apre una piccola radio dalla quale fustiga con l'arma dell'ironia i potenti locali fra i quali Zio Tano (Badalamenti). Peppino verrà massacrato facendo passare la sua morte per un suicidio.

Studente studioso di giorno, Mark Hunter si trasforma di notte in un pimpante, eterodosso conduttore di un programma radiofonico che entusiasma i suoi giovani ascoltatori e scandalizza gli adulti. Film giovanilistico con messaggio anticonformista incorporato. Interessante, ma soltanto in parte riuscito.

Il film narra di una piccola emittente privata emiliana, nata col nome di Radio Raptus. Sulle note della grande musica rock degli anni '70/80, la storia è raccontata a ritroso, partendo dal 1993, quando la radio sta per chiudere per sempre le trasmissioni. Co-founded by the MC Sniper and DJ Beats in 2002, the station has now built up a following of over a hundred people and has attracted the attention of the BBC who are making a documentary about the lives of those behind Kurupt FM

Radio Free Roscoe was a Canadian television series filmed in Toronto, Ontario. The show was produced by Decode Entertainment, and it first aired on 1 August 2003 on Family, in Canada. It has also been dubbed in French in the province of Quebec and aired on VRAK.TV. The show was later aired on The N in the United States, where the show received funding for a second season. The series ended on 27 May 2005 because The N decided to stop funding the show, and Family, along with Decode Entertainment, could not fill the gap in the production budget. The show was shown on Family until 2007, when it was replaced. In early 2008, The N began rebroadcasting reruns. The pilot was first filmed in New Jersey, with an entirely different cast. Then, the show was going to be based in Nutley, New Jersey and was titled Radio Free Nutley. The show was never picked up until Decode Entertainment decided to move production to Toronto and change the cast and title of the show. However, the show was still set in suburban New Jersey.
