Four Provinces Films

Three vignettes of old Irish country life, based on a series of short stories. In "The Majesty of the Law," a police officer must arrest an old-fashioned, traditional fellow for assault. The man's principles have the policeman and the whole village, including the man he slugged, sympathizing with him. "One Minute's Wait" is about a little train station and glimpses into the lives of the passengers, with a series of comic setups. The third piece, "1921," is about a condemned Irish nationalist and his daring escape.

Over the course of a day, a married couple, Mary and James Tyrone, and their two sons, Jamie and Edmund, grapple with Mary's morphine addiction and confront each other over the past in a series of emotionally tense and volatile exchanges.

Famous concert pianist William retires to a rectory in West Cork, Ireland. There, he hires a local woman, Tara, as a housekeeper, whom he has met three times yet forgotten all about. While he remembers nothing of their previous meetings, she remembers everything. When an abandoned well is found on the property, she shares legends of the well’s magical history with him, setting the stage for a story of murder, lost eroticism, and revenge.

A quiet little village, and especially a pretty young woman, falls under the spell of a charming, somewhat roguish stranger who suddenly appears one day.
