The events in Mahallada duv-duv gap occur in a mahalla — a traditional Uzbek neighborhood — in an old part of Tashkent at a time when big-scale construction works are taking place. The movie humorously depicts the relationships between traditional parents and their modern children.

Summer of 1941. Mothers and wives of Uzbekistan escort their sons and husbands to the front. They are learning new professions and sending food trucks to the front.

A young man, Russian by nationality, goes to a Turkmen bride in a remote border village, not knowing that his large family decides to surprise him and also goes to Turkmenistan to meet the bride and her parents. The chain of comic misunderstandings ends with an episode of a skirmish on the border with saboteurs.

The famous textile worker Natasha Abrikosova travels from Moscow to Tashkent to introduce the innovative method of the Vinogradovs at a textile mill (E. Vinogradova was the film's technical consultant). However, the director of the plant, Rizaev (a hidden enemy), is trying with all his might to thwart Abrikosova's plan. Having chosen Asal as her assistant, the girl soon achieves a record output and, thereby, provokes Rizaev to an open crime.
