Na dan uništenja planeta Krypton, Jor-El (Marlon Brando) u svemirskom brodu lansira sina Kal-el prema udaljenom planetu Zemlji. Maleni Kal-el na našoj planeti posjeduje natprirodne moći u odnosu na ljudsku vrstu. Nakon odrastanja na farmi Kal-el odlazi u grad gdje se počinje baviti novinarstvom pod imenom Clark Kent.
