U travnju 1945. Saveznici vode završne bitke na europskom tlu. Priča započinje na Zemlji. Treba zauzeti mjesto svojeg brata koji je poginuo u pokušaju komunikacije s Na'vi vrstom (visoka, mršava i plava bića s dredloksima) koja obitava na planetu Pandora. No, postoje problemi; prvi je to što je Jake invalid (ostao je bez noge tijekom ture kao marinac), a drugi je taj što Na'viji baš i nisu veliki ljubitelji ljudske rase.

Harry, Ron i Hermiona nastavljaju potragu kako bi uništili tri preostala horkruksa Gospodara Tame, magične predmete odgovorne za njegovu besmrtnost. No kako se mistični darovi smrti razotkrivaju, počinje posljednja bitka.
