Popeye opens a diner; Bluto pulls one up right across the street. Wimpy comes along, and they compete for his business. The competition escalates, until finally they are throwing things at each other; Wimpy stands between them and snags a complete meal from the stream of objects passing overhead. A sleep-walking baby owl finds its way in Herman's house, and the friendly mouse makes friends with it. But the owl arouses Katnip, who takes out after it, but Herman always manages to rescue the little owl. The owl finally makes a nest for its self out of Katnip's fur which Herman has stripped off.
In his first outing at trying to do his first good deed as a Boy Scout, Goodie is tormented by the evil gremlins at every turn. The other gremlins hate Goodie because he won't let them have fun going bad things. When he stops two gremlins from starting a fight with two friendly neighbors, the evil sprites tie Goodie up and continue to make trouble with the neighbors. Getting some assistance from an unlikely source, Goodie foils the gremlins' scheme, and the two neighbors became pals once again.

Casper, the Friendly (and always helpful) Ghost, finds a lost crate containing Ozzie, a baby ostrich. Casper tries to deliver it to the address on the crate while the baby ostrich is eating up everything in sight. After finally completing his mission, Casper realizes that he has delivered Ozzie to a taxidermist's shop, and he must rescue Ozzie.
Bluto muscles out Popeye to take Olive to the fair. Popeye rushes ahead and poses as a fortune teller, luring Olive in. He shows Olive her future (actually, her past) in the crystal ball.

Snuffy, Barney and Louise are stranded in the big city with no money for a mule and a wagon until a pair of gangsters offer to buy them one if they will just deliver a note and a satchel to the nearby bank. Desperately in need of funds to return to Hootin' Holler, Snuffy gets a job helping out the men by standing guard outside of a building... not realizing that he's becoming an unwitting pawn to a pair of bank robbers. Grateful Gus, a happy-go-lucky panhandler, puts the touch on a bank executive who is hastily absconding with the bank's liquid assets. The banker gives Gus a ten-dollar bill, and Gus is so filled with gratitude that he sticks closer to the embezzler than glue, no matter where the robber goes. This eventually causes the apprehension of the worn-out robber. A policeman gives Gus a reward and Gus then turns his grateful attention to him.
Katnip opens a pizza parlor right next door to where the little mice live. As the aroma of fresh pizza drifts into the gym, the mice can't resist. Cousin Herman tries to make Chubby slim down so that Katnip won't get him. Herman is getting the mice in condition to run when they make a raid.
Katnip, the mean Kat, is chasing a group of nice little mice, who are playing and having fun in a toy shop, until Herman, the good mouse,appears in the uniform of a sergeant in the U. S. Army, who has come home on a furlough. Because Katnip has had military training, Herman puts him through a few military exercises, and eliminate the chance that Katnip will be in shape to bother the little mice when Herman's furlough is over.
