הסרט "Tales From The Golden Age" מורכב מחמש אפיזודות קצרות המבוימות כל אחת בידי במאי אחר. הסרט, המבקש לספר בצורה אישית, בפשטות והומור על תקופת הקומוניזם המאוחר ברומניה מבעד לעיניהם של האנשים הפשוטים, מבוסס על חמש אגדות אורבניות מתקופה זו, אשר עובדו לתסריטים על ידי כריסטיאן מונג'יו, מי שהביא לנו את הדרמה עוצרת הנשימה 4 חודשים, 3 שבועות ויומיים, אשר גם זיכתה אותו בפרס דקל הזהב ב-2007. הוא גם ביים את אחת מהאפיזודות.
