לגו'ן האמונד, מיליונר מזדקן, יש רעיון מטורף, לפתוח פארק שעשועים שהאטרקציה המרכזית בו היא דינוזאורים. חוקריו של האמונד מצליחים, בעזרת תהליך חדשני, להפיק דנ"א של דינוזאורים שמתו לפני מאות מיליוני שנים ולהחזירם לחיים. לפני פתיחת הפארק לקהל הרחב מזמין האמונד, לצורך חוות דעת אחרונה ולהרגעת משקיעיו, קבוצת חוקרים נודעים, האמורים לחקור ולהתרשם מהפארק. כבר במהלך סיור ההתרשמות הראשוני, משתבשות כל התוכנית. העניינים והחיות יוצאים משליטה. מרגע זה ועד הסוף הדרמטי הופך הסרט למסע הישרדות מדהים תוך התמודדות מול יצורים קדמוניים שחזרו - ובגדול.
הפרק השלישי והמוצלח ביותר בסדרת הסרטים אודות המדען המבריק ברנרד קווטרמאס. במהלך חפירות ברכבת התחתית בלונדון מתגלה חפץ שבהתחלה חושבים אותו לפצצה נאצית שלא התפוצצה. מסתבר כי זו בעצם חללית של חייזרים, המאוכלסת באנשי המאדים, אשר נמלטו מכוכב הלכת שלהם לפני שני מיליוני שנים, כאשר עולמם התחיל להיכחד. היצורים דמויי הארבה שמתגלים בתוך החללית נראים כמתים,אך עד מהרה מסתבר כי לא איבדו את כוחם. על פי תסריט של נייג'ל ניל שיצר גם את סדרת הטלוויזיה "קווטרמאס", המערבב מיסטיקה, אנתרופולוגיה, דת, אימה ומדע בדיוני.
ב-1990, באזור ה-"בדלנדס" של דרום דקוטה, גילה הפליאונטולוג פיט לרסון וצוותו מאובנים של טירנוזאורוס רקס במצב יוצא דופן – כ-80 אחוז מהשלד היה שלם, מה שהופך אותו לשלד השלם ביותר שהתגלה מעולם. לרסון תיכנן להביא את השלד למוזיאון ולהמשיך לבחון אותו, אך גורמים ממשלתיים נכנסו לתמונה וטענו שאין לו שום זכות חוקית על השלד. הבמאי טוד דאגלס מילר עוקב אחר מאבקו בן העשור של לרסון להשיב אליו את התגלית הייחודית.
