פארודיה פרועה על סרטי גיבורי-על. בכדי להרויח עוד כסף מספונסרים, מחליט גיבור העל "קפטן אמייזינג", לשחרר מן הכלא את הנבל, הפושע המסוכן, חובב מוזיקת הדיסקו, קזנובה פרנקנשטיין, שעד מהרה חוטף אותו. כעת גורלה של העיר נשען על "אנשי המסתורין", שבעה גיבורי-על אלטרנטיביים: ה-"ראג'ה הכחול", זורק המזלגות, עובד העירייה המסור "המעדר", "שחקנית הבאולינג" המתוסכלת, "הטחול" המאיים, "הילד הבלתי נראה", שיכול להיות בלתי נראה רק שאף אחד לא מסתכל, "הספינקס" המסתורי, שתמיד מציע דברי חוכמה שנונים, ו-"מר זועם", מנהיגם הכועס התמידי.
