دو دلداده اریک و شلی، وقتی شیاطینِ گذشته‌ی تاریک شلی به آن‌ها می‌رسند، به‌طرز وحشیانه‌ای به قتل می‌رسند. اریک که این فرصت را می‌یابد تا با فدا کردنِ خود، عشقِ واقعی‌اش را نجات دهد، برای گرفتن انتقامی بی‌رحمانه از قاتلانشان به راه می‌افتد و در این مسیر، دنیاهای زندگان و مردگان را درمی‌نوردد تا اشتباهات را جبران کند.
The story follows Motoko Kusanagi, a highly skilled member of the military, whom upon meeting Daisuke Aramaki, a current chief of the Public Security Section 9, in less than desirable conditions struggles to clear her name whilst forming her own independent team with the highest priority under the sponsorship and guidance of the chief Aramaki himself. Ghost in the Shell: Arise is a re-imagining of Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell.
