داستان اون به این گونه است که جان رمبو پس از گذشت سال ها و روزهای زیادی که ازجنگ ویتنام سپری شده به میان جنگل های کوهستانی در تایلند شمالی رفته اما جنگ های 60 ساله قبیله ای بین برمیه ها و کارن ها در مرز میانمار مشکلات زیادی رو برای اون ایجاد می کنه. سربازان سازمان ملل برای کمک به افرادی که آسیب دیدند تصمیم می گیرند که به این منطقه بیاند اما مشکلات زیادی برای اونا به وجود میاد .
