Το 1881 ο χαρισματικός και απρόβλεπτος Τζέσε Τζέιμς, ο διαβόητος ληστής της Δύσης, ετοιμάζει την επόμενη μεγάλη ληστεία του, έχοντας ταυτόχρονα να αντιμετωπίσει πολλούς καλοθελητές που, όπως είναι φυσικό, δελεάζονται από την υπέρογκη αμοιβή, αλλά και τη δόξα που θα φέρει η παράδοσή του στην αστυνομία. Όμως, εκείνο που δε γνωρίζει ο Τζέσε είναι ότι ο μεγαλύτερος εχθρός του βρίσκεται μέσα στην ίδια του τη συμμορία και δεν είναι άλλος από τον Ρόμπερτ Φορντ, ένα νεαρό, που ψάχνοντας να βρει νόημα στη ζωή του, έχει εισχωρήσει στην ομάδα του Τζέσε. Για πόσο καιρό όμως θα αντέξει να μείνει στην αφάνεια; Για πόσο καιρό θα μπορέσει να κρύβει τη ζήλια του για το μέντορά του; Δε θα αργήσει να πάρει την απόφαση να τον δολοφονήσει εν ψυχρώ, καταστρώνοντας μεθοδικά το σχέδιό του και παίρνοντας με το μέρος του και άλλα μέλη της συμμορίας. Όμως, θα ανακαλύψει ότι μετά τη δολοφονία του αφεντικού του, μία καινούρια κόλαση τον περιμένει...

Μέσα από την οπτική γωνία διαφορετικών χαρακτήρων, παρουσιάζονται τα γεγονότα γύρω από την απόπειρα δολοφονίας κατά του Προέδρου των ΗΠΑ, σε μια συνάντηση κορυφής κατά της τρομοκρατίας στην Ισπανία.

Οι ερευνητές – επιστήμονες Άλεξ Ές και Λάρι Άρμπογκαστ εργάζονται πυρετωδώς για τη παρασκευή ενός πρωτοποριακού φαρμάκου, που εμποδίζει ενδεχόμενη αποβολή του εμβρύου από την κυοφορούσα. Όμως οι ξαφνικές περικοπές των κυβερνητικών κονδυλίων, και η άρνηση του Ινστιτούτου Ερευνών να επιτρέψει τη δοκιμή του φαρμάκου σε ανθρώπινο οργανισμό, αναγκάζουν τους δύο επιστήμονες και φίλους να πάρουν το μεγάλο ρίσκο: αποφασίζουν να τεστάρουν το φάρμακο και μάλιστα πάνω στον ίδιο τον Άλεξ, καθιστώντας τον... έγκυο! Όμως κατά τη διάρκεια της εγκυμοσύνης του, ο Άλεξ αρχίζει να δένεται ψυχικά με το έμβρυο, που είναι στα σπλάχνα του...

Μεταξύ των παικτών είναι ένας βρετανός σκηνοθέτης ταινιών θρίλερ, ο οποίος βρίσκεται στο Σαν Φρανσίσκο για να γυρίσει ένα βίντεο κλιπ. Ένα από τα ονόματα στη λίστα θανάτου είναι του ναρκομανή ροκ σταρ, που πρωταγωνιστεί στο βίντεο κλιπ. Όταν ο ροκ σταρ βρίσκεται νεκρός, ο βασικός ύποπτος για τη δολοφονία του είναι, φυσικά, ο σκηνοθέτης. Ο «βρόμικος Χάρι» όμως, δεν έχει την ίδια γνώμη…

Spam then takes the paper shooting downmarket and turns the crucible into a sensation seeking scandal rag, very much in the style of the British tabloids of the 1980s. He is helped along by his ace gutter journalist, Greg Kettle, who intimidates his tabloid victims by claiming to be "a representative of Her Majesty's press" and produces stories such as accusing a vicar of being a werewolf. Throughout the first series, a running plot involved cub reporter Bill Tytla gradually uncovering an actual newsworthy story that went to the very heart of government. Written by David Renwick and Andrew Marshall, it is very much a continuation in style from their previous sitcom Whoops Apocalypse!. It was produced by Humphrey Barclay.
