The Monster at the End of This Story is Sesame Street special on HBO Max.

For more than a half-century, Sesame Street has addressed and explained diversity, equity, and inclusion around the globe by using the universal tools of music, empathy and celebrity. Sesame Street: 50 Years of Sunny Days reflects upon the efforts that have earned the show respect and qualification around the globe. The special also chronicles the creation and introduction of a Black family of Sesame Street Muppets, Wes and Elijah Walker, a father-and-son duo who are at the heart of Sesame Workshop’s new racial justice initiative Coming Together.

They team up with a plucky history show host Sally Hawthorne who’s on a quest to save her show and prove that Sesame Street actually exists, with obstacles created by the “evil” Mayor, with reasons of his own for keeping Sesame Street hidden from the world.

The action begins when they encounter the wish-granting Genie of the Magic Cookbook- who takes them on a guided tour of an enchanted kitchen! Aided by Sesame Street friends Big Bird, Grover, Rosita, Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie, Elmo's dad Louie, and tiger Mr. Stripey, the duo invites children to join in the search for all seven items on their list...along the way, "Monster Foodies" Cookie Monster and Gonger whip up a tasty summer dessert, Amy Sedaris shares an easy craft the whole family can make, and Gabrielle Union leads Elmo and Abby in a sweet sing-along.

Featuring new music inspired by holiday classic The Nutcracker, this animated special follows Elmo’s fantastical adventure through magical lands to retrieve a nutcracker toy, along with his puppy Tango – who can speak for the first time!
