Lucas musste einige Schicksalsschläge hinnehmen, doch jetzt geht es in seinem Leben langsam wieder bergauf. Er hat eine neue Stelle in einem Kindergarten gefunden und auch die hübsche Aushilfe Nadja fühlt sich zu ihm hingezogen. In den Kindergarten geht die kleine Klara, die Tochter seines besten Freundes Theo, die ihn besonders gut leiden kann. Einer Kindergartenleiterin erzählt Klara, Lucas habe sie geküsst und ihr sein Geschlechtsteil gezeigt, denn dass würden Liebende tun, so habe es ihr großer Bruder ihr erzählt. Lucas ist entsetzt, als er hört, was ihm vorgeworfen wird. Doch da hat das Gerücht schon in der gesamten Nachbarschaft die Runde gemacht. Der unschuldige Lucas fühlt sich sicher und denkt, dass sich alles schon von alleine beruhigen wird, doch das Gegenteil trifft ein: Die Hexenjagd auf ihn nimmt dramatische Züge an.

Während im November 1944 Mitglieder des niederländischen Widerstands und Zehntausende ihrer Verbündeten auf der Halbinsel Walcheren in Zeeland gegen die Deutschen kämpfen, kreuzen sich auf schicksalhafte Weise die Wege von Teuntje, William und Marinus. Teuntjes Bruder Dirk, der als Fotograf für den Widerstand arbeitet, tötet drei deutsche Soldaten und wird von den Deutschen gesucht. Sie versucht ihn zu beschützen und schließt sich selbst dem Widerstand an. Marinus ist ein niederländischer Freiwilliger und kämpft für die Deutschen. Er trifft auf William, einen Piloten, der in Zeeland abgestürzt ist.

Der Wirtschaftsprüfer Francis ist Stammgast im Stripteaselokal Exotica. Er geht dort nur hin, um die junge Christina zu sehen, die für fünf Dollar häufig für ihn tanzt. Dies macht den DJ und Ansager Eric eifersüchtig. Deshalb bringt er Francis dazu Christina verbotenerweise beim Tanzen zu berühren, und schmeißt ihn anschließend aus dem Laden raus. Gusztáv, also known as Gustavus, was Hungarian series of animated short cartoons for adults. It was extremely popular in Eastern Europe, where it has achieved cult status. It ran from 1964-1977. Each episode tells an adventure of the main character, Gustav, related to the gray realities of urban life. Characteristic feature of the show was that episodes were independent: for example, Gustav is sometimes a bachelor, sometimes has large family. In Eastern Europe and Yugoslavia the episodes were broadcast on TV in the 80s, usually as airtime filler. The series was also broadcast in Western Europe and even in New Zealand - because it was not using language, other than gibberish sound, it was able to easily transcend boundaries.
