The student Olle has signed up to sail the Atlantic. But his sensitivity and personal problems make it difficult to be accepted on board. When some of the students belongings disappear the suspicions are aimed at Olle.

"Stay a while!" - Reflections on the short duration of life. A boy suffers from a serious illness, is in hospital and would rather not be alone.

Kalle Andersson, born in 1907, grows up in poor conditions in Malmö. He has difficulty finding a job, but eventually gets a position through SAP and works his way up. He turns down a directorship, wanting to be loyal to the Labour Party.
