One day on the beach, the familiarity of the sea and the surroundings triggers a return of her father's memory, and we are reminded that although people age and change, the sea and the ways of the fisherfolk remain eternal.

The stately home in England turns out to be a whorehouse that imports women from Denmark. Anna manages to overpower her first client but is unable to escape.

Two Johns, a Confederate and an Union soldier, leave their families to go to the front. After a skirmish they end up separated from their respective sides, the Union soldier shoots the Confederate, but he has to escape and look for refuge in the house of his enemy.
In the opening of this subject we find the callow youth as he points towards the city's spires, exclaiming to his dear old mother, "Mother, there in the big city is my sphere. There will I turn the world over." Off he goes cityward, ambitious and presumptuous, and perhaps we may add reckless. Alas, the city's whirl is quite a change from the simple quiet life in the country and the youth falls a victim to the snares that beset the unsophisticated.

The hypnotist uses a feather to to hypnotize him, but doesn't turn it off properly, so Polidor goes into a trance on sighting anything with feathers. This means that he leans over in an impossible looking pose, and walks on.

Pausing in front of a bargain dry-goods store, a young lady rushes up and asks Hank to hold her baby while she goes inside to make a few purchases. Shortly after she returns and liberally tips the little man for his services as nurse.

The central figure in the drama is Uncle Tom, a slave initially in the possession of the Shelbys of Kentucky. A 1927 re-release of this film cut the original runtime in half, and in its extant, fragmentary state, it runs 14 minutes.
