Efter at have patruljeret gaderne i to år som Batman, og skabt frygt for de kriminelle, er Bruce Wayne nået dybt ind i Gothams skyggefulde underverden. Med kun få betroede allierede – Alfred Pennyworth og Løjnant James Gordon – blandt byens korrupte netværk af embedsmænd og højt profilerede personer, har den sortklædte selvtægtsmand etableret sig selv som den eneste legemliggørelse af hævn blandt sine medborgere. Da en seriemorder går efter eliten i Gotham med en række sadistiske mord, dukker nogle kryptiske ledetråde op og sender verdens bedste detektiv på en efterforskning i underverdenen. Da bevismaterialerne kommer tættere og tættere på, og omfanget af gerningsmandens planer bliver klart, må Batman skabe nye alliancer, afsløre den skyldige og skabe retfærdighed i et Gotham, der længe har været plaget af magtmisbrug og korruption.

Den afgående kriminalbetjent Sommerset og hans unge afløser Mills får i en amerikansk storby til opgave at efterforske et dødsfald. Evan og Seth har kun to ting i hovedet: Piger og sex! De er lige ved at være færdige på gymnasiet og skal snart på hver sit college, så der er store forventninger til deres sidste fest sammen. Én vigtig ingrediens mangler dog i deres plan om at komme tæt på pigerne til festen: Sprut! Og det er ikke så nemt at få fat i, når man ikke er i nærheden af 24 år.
