Vi befinder os i en europæisk landsby i det 19. århundrede. Victor og Victoria bliver tvunget ind i ægteskab af deres forældre, og de mødes først dagen før deres bryllup! Men selvom der helt tydeligt er en god magi imellem dem, er de begge temmelig nervøse. Victor er faktisk SÅ nervøs, at han ikke kan huske vielsesritualet til bryllups-generalprøven. Han bliver smidt ud af præsten med besked om, at han først skal komme tilbage, når han kan ritualet perfekt. Mens han går i skoven og øver sig, taber han ringen, der lander på en skelethånd, og pludselig bryder en halvrådden kvinde, iklædt resterne af en engang hvid brudekjole, op af jorden. Ved et uheld er Victor blevet trolovet med denne Corpse Bride, som har ligget i jorden og ventet på en gom, lige siden hun blev myrdet på sin bryllupsdag. Hun slæber ham med til underverdenen, hvor der er masser af fest og gang i den. Men kan Victor bare sådan glemme sin rigtige brud?

Den nybagte brud Grace er lykkelig for at have fundet Alex Le Domas, som kommer fra en rig, prestigefyldt familie, på hvis gods deres bryllupsfest holdes.
