Hans datter skal giftes, så Manhatten-tandlægen Sheldon Kornpett har mere at se til, end han kan overskue. Han har aldrig mødt brudgommens far, Vince (som måske/måske ikke er CIA-agent), men han har også haft så meget at se til i lang tid, at det hele rabler for ham. Det eskalerer, da Vince kommer til middag hos familien Kornpett, hvor han begynder at fable om et internationalt plot om stjålen valuta. Der går derfor ikke lang tid, før det hele ender galt.

Hvis man endelig skal være utro... Kan man lige så godt lade det blive i familien! Da Paul (Lee) morgenen efter sin polterabend vågner op ved siden af den forrygende klappevenlige og ret dejlige Becky (Stiles), må han anstrenge sig for at fyre en lynhurtig forklaring af til sin forlovede, Karen (Blair). For er det egentlig muligt at gradbøje utroskab? Ok, Paul prøver, men fra det sekund han har sagt den første hvide løgn, går hans liv direkte fra problemfyldt til katastrofalt! Beckys trusser dukker nemlig op i hans sofa, Beckys ex-fyr viser pludselig piiiinlige fotos af Paul frem og da han oven i købet finder ud af, at Becky rent faktisk er Karens kusine, kan det næsten ikke blive værre. Faktisk er han nemlig blevet enormt vild med Becky, men kan han for én gangs skyld finde ud af at gøre det rigtige, eller vil han for altid miste muligheden for at blive lykkelig…?!

Kate Reddy arbejder hårdt for et finansieringsselskab i Boston. Om aftenen drager hun hjem til sin hengivne mand Richard, der er arkitekt, samt deres to børn. Det er en vanskelig balancegang, som Kate's bedste veninde og arbejdende mor Allison har fuld forståelse for i modsætning til Kate's superintelligente, barnefobiske unge kollega Momo. Da Kate får ansvaret får en ny vigtig klient og med jævne mellemrum må rejse til New York, og Richard samtidig får det arbejde, han havde håbet på, bliver parrets hverdag pludselig travlere. Situationen bliver endnu mere kompliceret, da Kate's nye forretningspartner, Jack Abelhammer, skruer charmen på over for Kate.

Kærlighedshistorien fortsætter. Ryan O'Neal er tilbage som Oliver Barrett IV i Oliver's Story, der er baseret på Erich Segals efterfølger til Love Story. Candice Bergen viser elegant og charmerende skuespil i rollen som en nyligt fraskilt karrierekvinde ved navn Marcie Bonwit.
