Da Sandra mistænkes for at have myrdet sin mand, bevæger vi os over i et intenst retssalsdrama, der trækker os både i den ene og den anden retning, for hvem ved: Måske har Sandra vitterligt begået et mord? Sandra Hüllers tvetydige portræt af Sandra gør det ikke nemt for publikum, og undervejs kommer selv hendes unge søn i tvivl. Og imens det moderne parforhold pilles fra hinanden i retssalen, smider anklagemyndigheden trumf på ved at udsøge sig passager i forfatterens bøger, som kan understøtte anklagen.

En dybt traumatiseret kvinde indsmurt i blod ankommer til skadestuen. Betjent Lorenzo bliver tilkaldt, og hun forklarer chokeret, at hendes bil er blevet stjålet, og at hendes lille søn lå på bagsædet og sov. Under afhøringen forklarer hun, at en sort mand tvang hende ud af bilen, og at det skete i den sorte ghetto, hvor hun arbejder som lærer. Kvindens bror er betjent, og inden længe spærrer et kæmpe politiopbud hele området af til stor frustration for områdets beboere. En gammel konflikt mellem politiet og de sorte blusser op, da beboerne føler sig uskyldigt anklaget, og situationen er ved at komme ud af kontrol. Lorenzo forsøger sammen med moderen at finde forbryderen og ikke mindst den lille dreng, før det er for sent, men samtidig har Lorenzo en nagende tvivl omkring kvindens forklaring – hendes historie hænger ikke helt sammen…

Kuwazuru Mitsuki is a second year student at Arakawa Nishi High School. One day, her homeroom teacher, Tachibana, suddenly announces the start of the "Letter Game", where every student has to write a letter with his/her true feelings to each of the classmates. However, the "letter" will not include the sender's name. At first, there were a lot of bad jokes and silly "letters", but they slowly accelerate to revealing secrets and confessions, which make everyone question, "Who is the sender?" and "Who will be named next?" This game allows the students to become more aware of each other's hidden worries and thoughts, which slowly deepens the bond among the classmates. Meanwhile, Mitsuki tries to search for the sender of the letter sent to her and she discovers a secret hidden in this "letter game".

An aspiring writer deep in debt encounters a young man with no memories and strange abilities. Together they fight injustice and form an unlikely bond.

Nobuto Natsume worked at a youth detention center, but began working as a detective after the age of forty. He begins his new career as a detective in the violent crimes section at Higashi-Ikebukuro Police Station. He listens carefully to those involved in cases and investigates thoroughly to uncover the truth. Veteran Detective Seiichi Fukumori works as Nobuto Natsume's partner. The crimes they investigate usually relate to families. ~~ Based on the novel "Keiji no Manazashi" by Gaku Yakumaru.

Nao Haie, a former elite lawyer turned detective, specializes in solving complex inheritance cases with the help of his unique team of friends. Reiko Mitomi, a medical student and Nao's assistant works alongside Hideki Tomonaga, a former ace researcher, now employed at a private appraisal company, as they tackle challenging and intricate cases.

Private forensic researcher Nagareda Enishi (Katori Shingo) is usually very sluggish as well as sloppy, and always aloof. However, his entire demeanour changes once he is at a scene and his skills as a forensic researcher are topnotch. He stands up for the disadvantaged by using science and technology to uncover conclusive evidence and solve trivial civil cases which the police will not handle such as adultery, molest and stalking. Enishi used to be a member of the Research Institute of Forensic Science and was called an ace, but he now belongs to Chiyoda Forensic Science Institute due to some incident.
