Arthur Curry er halvt menneske, halvt havgud. Den stenrige professor Whitmore har den samme drøm og inden Milo ved af det, er han på vej ud på sit livs eventyr. Med på ekspeditionen er den seje Kaptajn Rourke, den gale geolog Moliere, dynamitspecialisten Vince og så Cookie – kokken med verdens ulækreste mad. I en ubåd dykker de ned mod havets bund. Pludselig støder de på et uhyre, som vogter vejen til Atlantis. Efter en hård kamp når de deres mål og opdager at byen findes! Milo møder den spændende prinsesse Kida, men opdager også at Rourke og de andre har en lumsk plan med i bagagen…
Helten blev tilbage i Atlantis med sin nye kærlighed, Prinsesse Kida, mens resten af ekspeditionen vendte tilbage til Jordens overflade. Imidlertid visser det sig ikke at holde bare at "glemme" Atlantis. Et forfærdeligt havuhyre dukker op og synes at være forbundet med Atlantis, så venner må have fat i Milo og Kida igen. Snart sker der også mystiske ting ude i ørkenen, og til sidst forsvinder et spyd fra Whitmores samling. Alt sammen pager hen mod en truende katastrofe, som denne gang ikke blot vil ramme Atlantis, men hele Jorden.
I sidste halvdel af 1800-tallet lever sømændene en risikofyldt tilværelse. Mange fartøjer forsvinder, og historier om en gigantisk narhval, der uden nåde angriber og sænker skibene, begynder at florere. En professor sætter sig for at løse mysteriet om uhyret, og sammen med en frygtløs hvalfanger drager han til søs.
Barbie spiller hovedrollen som Merliah, der er surferstjerme i Malibu, California. Hun er en ganske almindelig teenager, indtil hun opdager, at hun faktisk er en havfrue! Merliah og hendes delfinven Zuma drager ud på et eventyr under vandet for at redde Merliahs mor, dronningen af Oceana. Merliah får også hjælp af sine nye havfrueveninder, og det lykkes dem at redde havriget. Det hele ender med, at hun finder ud af, at dét, der gør dig anderledes, faktisk kan være din stærkeste side.
Jagten på artefakter tilskrives Zenon (en gammel videnskabsmand fra Atlantis), MacGyver og hans gamle professor ender med at søge efter den forsvundne by.
Et team af videnskabsmænd, der arbejder på at rejse en sunket russisk atomubåd på en havplatform ud for Miamis kyst, Florida, afgraver et gammelt atlantisk levn fra havbunden og henter en ekspert til at finde ud af det.
