Staré sídlo rodiny Šangů, které se nacházelo na předměstí, bylo pověstné jako zlověstné místo. Jedné mrazivé a deštivé noci byla v sídle Šangů nalezena mrtvá vysokoškolská studentka a dalšího muže zapleteného do případu čekal tragický konec. Záhadná a strašidelná povaha tohoto případu způsobila, že se mu lidé na policejním oddělení vyhýbali. Mladá policistka Zhen Xiaohuo, která nevěřila na nadpřirozená vysvětlení, čelila odporu zkušeného policisty Zhen Meihu, který trval na vyšetření případu. Xiaohuo se spřátelila se záhadnou bohatou mladou dámou Zhao Yique a obě ženy spojily své síly, aby se zaměřily na vyšetřování skrytých aktivit v budově Chengfeng na okraji města.
