Náš hrdina je malý sob a jmenuje se Ailo. Právě se narodil v Laponsku, což je krajina na severu Evropy, jejíž největší část leží až za polárním kruhem. Nezní to moc povzbudivě. Takový sobík si ale na drsné podmínky snadno navykne. Hned po narození se dokáže rychle postavit na nohy, stačí mu na to pouhých pět minut. Za dalších pět minut se naučí chodit a do čtvrt hodiny umí plavat i pelášit sněhem. Díky svým širokým kopýtkům se může v závějích pohybovat rychle a na pastvu také není příliš náročný. Spokojí se s trochou trávy i mechu, ale jeho nejoblíbenější pochoutkou je lišejník. A jestli je mu zima? Kdepak. Mohutná srst mu umožňuje přežít teplotu i okolo -40°C. Při svém putování Laponskem Ailo potkává další obyvatele této nádherné krajiny. Ať již hbitého hranostaje, nebezpečné vlky, chytrého rosomáka, polární lišku, chundelatou veverku, tichou sovu nebo vysoko létajícího orla.

V srdci Tichého oceánu se nachází souostroví, na němž žije jedinečná sbírka trosečníků, jakou nenajdete jinde na světě. „Lachtani Galapág“, filmové vyprávění Brendana Frasera ze společnosti Disney Nature, se noří pod hladinu s Leem, roztomilým lachtaním mládětem, které se učí orientovat v životě po boku své matky Luny. Brzy však musí Leo matčinu kolonii opustit a najít si nový domov.

Meet The Sloths follows a year in the life of five slow-moving residents of the Aviarios Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica, a sanctuary dedicated to saving orphaned or injured sloths. Filmmaker Lucy Cooke headed to the sanctuary to follow the stories of these loveable and unique creatures. And, apart from filming adorable videos – including one that’s got two million hits on YouTube – she has captured a unique insight into these very secretive animals. The stories demonstrate the difficulty in caring for sloths, and stories include: baby sloth twins fighting for survival, an injured and sexually frustrated ex-lothario sloth called, naturally, Randy and at the oldest living sloth in captivity that has lived to the ripe old age of 20-years-old. Over a year in their company Lucy watches as an unlikely soap opera of love, loss and lust develops and learns first hand that although slow on their feet, a sloths life is anything but slothful.
