V podobné situaci je i Henry (Steve Martin), po mnoha letech propuštěný z reklamní agentury. O novou práci se má ucházet v New Yorku a Nancy se rozhodne ho doprovázet. Jenže na letišti se Clarkovým ztratí kufr, přijdou o peníze, a to je teprve začátek. Bude hůř a povadlé manželství bude muset projít těžkou zkouškou...

V Marseille nastoupí na loď, která podle něj míří do kolonií, nakonec se ale dostane zpátky domů, kde je mu odpuštěno. Film byl natočen podle divadelní hry Ivora Novella, který zároveň ztvárnil hlavního hrdinu dalšího Hitchcockova filmu Příšerný host.
