Un experiment fallit projectat per solucionar el problema de l'escalfament global, gairebé ha destruït la vida sobre la Terra desencadenant una glaciació. Els únics supervivents són els passatgers del ferrocarril Snowpiercer, un tren que recorre el món impulsat per un motor de moviment etern. El tren està dividit en dues classes: a la part davantera hi va la classe acomodada i amb privilegis, i als vagons de cua, la classe obrera. Fastiguejats per les condicions infrahumanes en què viuen, els passatgers de cua decideixen organitzar una revolució per fer-se amb el control de la màquina.

Jean Valjean és enviat a la presó després de robar un tros de pa amb què pretenia alimentar els seus nebots i la seva germana vídua. Adaptació del musical del mateix títol que, alhora, es basa en l'obra de Victor Hugo "Els miserables".

Al començament del segle XX, Joseph i els seus dos germans malviuen del cultiu d'unes terres propietat, com tota la comarca, del poderós senyor Christie. Quan el pare de Joseph mor en un accident provocat pels homes de Christie, el jove decideix venjar-se, però no ho aconsegueix. Poc després, per evitar un duel, emigra a Amèrica, i al vaixell coincideix amb Shannon, la bella filla de Christie. Només arribar als Estats Units, a Shannon li roben tots els seus diners; llavors Joseph decideix protegir-la fent-la passar per la seva germana.

Arran de la mort de la seva mare i, més tard, de la seva germana en un tràgic incident, la Babydoll, una noia de 20 anys, és internada en una institució per a malalts mentals. Amb l'objectiu d'ocultar els fets, el seu padrastre suborna en Blue, un dels interns, perquè falsifiqui la firma de la doctora Gorski i li practiquin una lobotomia. La noia, per suportar la crua realitat del centre, es crea un món irreal i alhora fantàstic on ha de trobar, amb l'ajuda de les seves companyes, cinc objectes per aconseguir la llibertat. La realitat alternativa de la Babydoll converteix el manicomi en un bordell, i la recerca dels objectes, en una guerra ambientada en un món futurista.

Tres motxillers es dirigeixen a una ciutat eslovaca que promet complir les seves expectatives hedonistes, sense ni idea de l'infern que els espera.

Respectable is a British sitcom, first shown in six episodes from 30 August to 4 October 2006 on Five; it was later repeated on Paramount Comedy 1.
