Nakon što otkriju novu crvotočinu, grupa istraživača i znanstvenika krene na putovanje kroz nju da prekorače prijašnje granice ljudskog putovanja svemirom i pokore ogromne daljine međuzvjezdanog putovanja. Među putnicima se nalazi strojar i udovac (Matthew McConaughey) koji se posvetio mirnom životu na farmi s dvoje djece, i sada mora donijeti tešku odluku da napusti svoju djecu kako bi otputovao u drugu galaksiju s ciljem da spasi čovječanstvo.

Glavni junak priče (čiji je naslov u Hrvatskoj "Ekipa za 6") dječak je Hiro Hamada (glas Ryan Potter), a u avanturama ga prati veliki bijeli balon Baymax. Robotički frik Hiro nađe se usred makljaže i kriminalne zamisli kojoj je kranja svrha uništenje high-tech grada San Fansokyo. U svemu mu pomaže neobični balon-robot Baymax, a urbzo će u misiji spašavanja grada okupiti i ekipu boraca protiv kriminala.

U ovoj priči Skynet šalje terminatora da ubije Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) još dalje u prošlost u odnosu na vremenski period iz originalnog filma The Terminator iz 1984. godine. Tom prilikom, devetogodišnja Sarah ostaje bez roditelja, a brigu o njoj preuzima stariji model terminatora T-800 (Arnold Scwarezenegger), koji je programiran da je štiti i koga će ona oslovljavati sa ”tata”. Pod terminatorovim strateljstvom Sarah izrasta u antisocijalnu osobu, ali istovremeno i vešto istreniranog borca.
