"My Father My Lord" is an intimate and deeply disturbing story of the conflict between a father's love and his deep devotion to religion. A respected Orthodox Rabbi dotes on his only son but his religious strictures leave an emotional gap between the impish child and the stern father. When the father's all-consuming obsession with observing religious ritual inadvertently leads to tragedy, his previously subservient wife rages against both her husband and God. Kamel, a young Bedouin, is a proud security guard at the Be’er Sheba central bus station. When the Israeli government threatens to tear down his settlement he decides to act. Kamel comes up with a plan to stage a bomb attack, which he will then prevent from happening, making him the hero of the day, hopefully saving his settlement and earning him the respect he's so desperately yearning for.

A camel's body lies in the middle of a desert road, exactly on the 147th kilometer, on the border between two settlements. None of them agrees to take responsibility for it.
