تبدأ أحداث القصة في القرن الرابع عشر، إذ تتنافس الأمم الأوروبية على تحقيق السيادة داخل الإمبراطورية الرومانية المقدسة. وفي هذا السياق، تشن الإمبراطورية النمساوية الطموحة، الباحثة عن توسيع أراضيها، هجومًا على سويسرا المجاورة، تلك الأمة الهادئة ذات الطابع الريفي. يجد البطل ويليام تيل، الذي كان صيادًا مسالمًا سابقًا، نفسه مضطرًا إلى اتخاذ القرار حين تتعرّض عائلته ووطنه لتهديد من الملك النمساوي المستبد وأمراء حربه القساة.

فيلم فنتازيا ملحمي أمريكي مبني على قصيدة سير غواين والفارس الأخضر والمكتوبة بالإنكليزية الوسطى في أواخر القرن الرابع عشر. يتكي مغامرة "سير غواين" أحد فرسان الطاولة المستديرة الذين كانوا مع الملك "آرثر."

Robin of Sherwood was a British television series, based on the legend of Robin Hood. The show starred Michael Praed and Jason Connery as two different incarnations of the title character.
